We are a group of veterans dedicated to preserving the memory of the Cold War. Asking for recognition for the "Cold Warriors", so long forgotten. We are also reaching out to all our brother and sister veterans. We are asking Congress to authorize a Cold War Victory Medal to all who served honorably during the Cold War, from 1945 to 1991
Cold War Recognition Certificate In accordance with section 1084 of the Fiscal Year 1998 National Defense Authorization Act, the Secretary of Defense approved awarding Cold War Recognition Certificates to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian personnel who faithfully served the United States during the Cold War era, from Sept. 2, 1945, to Dec. 26, 1991.
Yes and DoD will claim the certificate is enough. It was the sense of Congress to issue a medal, but DoD opted for the paper; which makes no mention of military service. The certificate was available for 10 years, and according to the Army Command in charge is issuing it only 2 million were issued.
this msy help us get a medal.
