We are a group of veterans dedicated to preserving the memory of the Cold War. Asking for recognition for the "Cold Warriors", so long forgotten. We are also reaching out to all our brother and sister veterans. We are asking Congress to authorize a Cold War Victory Medal to all who served honorably during the Cold War, from 1945 to 1991

Will President Obama Do It
After he takes office will President Obama stand up for our veterans? Will he use executive order to create a Cold War Victory/Service Medal? 17 years is a long time to wait for recognition.
Well, at least President Obama has gone on record as supporting the medal. I guess only time will tell if he actually follows through and signs an executive order authorizing the medal (which is about the only way it will probably happen since Congress has failed to do it).
As for his opponent, John McCain, he has repeatedly avoided this issue and refuses to publicly support the medal. This should be no surprise given McCain's appalling voting record on veteran's issues over the years.
