U.S. Military Considers Evacuations of Military from Japan

Although it has not been confirmed, sources say that the U.S. military is considering the
evacuation of all military personnel, and dependents from Yokosuka, Japan.

Yokosuka is home of the largest Navy base in Japan.

As of Monday there were no ships in port at Yokosuka. The aircraft carrier USS George Washington
had been undergoing maintenance, but left Monday to avoid the plume of radioactive particles
that could flow over the base. Since the ship was "in the yards", when she sailed the crew was not
at full strength; and thus will not be able to assist the rest of the Navy ships that are helping in the
recovery efforts.

On Saturday a plane left Japan with 230 people aboard, and that was followed by another flight
Monday with 154 military family members headed for Seattle/Tacoma(SeTac) international airport.

These were voluntary evacuations under State Department guidelines, and are being paid for
by the U.S. government.

If there is a real danger to our military and their dependents, by all means they should be removed
from harm's way immediately.

China developing military

China has announced that they are indeed investing heavily in their military.

They have developed a stealth fighter they call J-20. This aircraft has been designed and built by
the Chinese from the drawing board, and not  using technology that has been gathered from other
nation's planes.

While at the present it is not on a par with U.S. or Russian fighter/bombers and needs much work
to bring it even close to our planes. Some have said it will take 10 or 15 years to reach that level.

Still it is a frightening thought that China is progressing as quickly as they are.

China also has announced that it has developed an anti-ship ballistic missile designed to target
aircraft carriers is now operational.

The land based, and mobile missile, called Dongfeng 21 D is designed to attack aircraft carrier groups
with the help of satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) and come at them from high
altitudes.

Although the U.S. has not seen an over the water test of the new missile, it combined with China's
increased anti-access area denial capabilities, such as submarines, long range anti-ship cruise
missiles, anti-ship aircraft, are causing great concern; not only in the U.S. but also in neighboring
countries.

Japan and Taiwan  are sure to be thinking long as well as short range possibilities. The recent
buildup of China's military is almost like telling the U.S. that China is a force to be reckoned
with, and will do what they feel necessary.

How far will China go? What will be the next step?

U.S. and Far East Allies to Continue Exercises

The U.S. will hold more military exercises with South Korea and Japan as a show of force.

U.S. Joint Chief of Staffs, Adm. Mullen and his South Korean counterpart have said "war games" will
continue, and probably hold more exercises with Japan in the Yellow Sea.

At the same time Adm. Mullen blasted China for not doing more to bring North Korea under control.
Mullen said "The Chinese have enormous control over the North, influence that no other nation on
earth enjoys". He went on to say "And yet, despite a shared interest in reducing tensions, they appear
unwilling to use it."

At the joint news conference, Han Min-Koo, South Korea's top military commander said that rules
of engagement are being strengthened to allow commanders on the ground to fire back immediately
in case of another attack by the North.

This comes as tensions continue to rise along the lines dating back to the 1950-1953 Korean War
with South Korea and the U.S. reaffirming the vows of their longstanding alliance.

North Korea has claimed that the three countries are forming a super triumvirate to act against
the North, and that these actions are a threat of war that North Korea will answer with all
might and power.
